Up in the hills above Nerja, the village of Frigiliana is a rare, picturesque attraction for those tourists who seek the hidden gems of south-east Spain.
Out of the village, the landscape is dotted with farms, villas and estates where terraces of mangoes, avocados, peppers and tomatoes thrive along the quiet, winding, sunbaked lanes.
Old Dr. Pepe’s villa, now known as the Little Alhambra, is an imposing residence with its own stunning, well-tended gardens, pool and patios that surround the main house which stands on three sides of the central, Moorish courtyard.
The guest rooms are tastefully furnished with traditional tables, beds and dressers and there is ample storage space. Everywhere you can see unusual, artwork, wooden carvings and sculptures that inform the residence.
Hard to imagine anywhere as peaceful as this for a yoga retreat, especially when your teacher is as well-qualified, personable and gifted as Melanie. Each move of each flow is offered with a variety of possible interpretations so that everyone from seasoned yogi to absolute beginner feels not just at ease but also welcomed, engaged and appreciated as part of an integrated group.
The premises afford several areas for yoga sessions indoors and out and after yoga there are many different areas in sun or shade where guests can socialise, relax or meditate, swim or sunbathe.
The food is of a very high standard: fresh local produce cooked and presented immaculately by Colin. All dietary requirements are catered for and nothing is too much trouble.
There are plenty of walks along the quiet hillside lanes, including, if needed, some decent inclines and descents leading to Frigiliana where there is a good range of shops, bars and restaurants and a market.
This is a very special location and one of the best retreats I have attended.

Wow is all i can say.
What an amazingly stunning venue for a mountain retreat, The accommodation is clean and comfortable with a typical Spanish feel.
Mel, The yoga for me just gets better every time,
I love that you correct postures which is what i would expect from a yoga teacher, you are thoughtful and conscientious, which is evident in your classes.
I particularly love the fact you listen to what people are saying and adapt your classes in order to help us with our individual ailments, you are truly a brilliant teacher, which keeps me coming back for more.
Colin, your food is fantastic. I can't really say more than that, apart from maybe open a restaurant & I'll be your first customer :)

“Melanie’s sound bath and yoga workshop was deeply restorative. Her gentle guidance, paired with the soothing vibrations of the sound bath, created a space of complete relaxation and renewal. I left feeling balanced, peaceful, and re-energized. A truly magical experience—I can’t wait to attend again!”

Mel and Col thank you for giving me the chance to fulfil so many of my dreams. The amazing yoga in Munkudil, Taj Mahal, Hot air balloon ride and of course the beautiful Agra Fort … so much more. I’ve felt extremely nurtured, cared for; so secure through out the whole trip it is one of the most wonderful experience of my life meeting such beautiful souls; so full of kindness , openness, a country of people who reach out to chat at every opportunity. And what a great group of wonderful beautiful, warm, kind and caring people. I hope I am lucky enough to keep in touch with. Shell xx
